About Us

The Central Government Staff Co-operative Thrift & Credit Society Ltd. was Established in the year 1980. Initially the office was set up at Shastri Bhavan and in the year 1991, it was shifted to No.4, Noor Veeraswamy Street, Nungambakkam, Chennai – 600034 from where it is now functioning.

The Society was registered in terms of the provisions of the Multi State Cooperative Society’s Act and Rules 2002, under Registration No, CR-13/91 and is Authorized to conduct its operations in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

The Society at present has a strength of 5697 Members. The Society is Managed by a Board of Directors and a full-time secretary (Ex-Officio) who looks after the day-to-day workings. Elections to elect the Board of Directors for the Society are held periodically once in 3 years.


  1. The core function of the Society is to disburse loans to the Eligible members at reasonable rates of interest.
  2. Fixed deposits for a period of one year are accepted from eligible Members.
  3. The profits earned by the Society are distributed annually to the Members in the form of dividends.
  4. Meritorious children of the members who have excelled in Board exams, etc are awarded Cash prizes.
  5. In the event of death of a member, the family of the deceased member is provided financial support.
  6. Such of those members who are recipients of Central Government Awards (President’s Awards, PM’s Award ) are honoured suitably.

  • How to become a Member

    • Any Central Government employee with a minimum of 3 years of Regular service or a permanent Government employee is eligible to Become a member of the Society.

    • A membership fee of Rs.150/- (Rupees one Hundred and fifty only) for admission fee is to be paid.

    • The concerned office should submit Form I,II, & III in order to enable the society to allot an index Code Number.

    • Admissibility or otherwise of any application for membership is at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors.

    • Withdrawal of membership by any member will need the approval of Board of Directors.

    • On becoming a member, an amount of Rs.2000/- p.m. for Thrift Deposit and Rs.1000/- p.m. for Family Welfare Deposit. Is collected.

    • Once admitted, a member is eligible to avail a loan of Rs.1,00,000/- initially, to be recovered in a maximum of 150 monthly instalment.

    • In further details concerning grant and recovery of loans may be obtained from the office.

    • A maximum amount of Rs.20,000/- will be granted immediately to the family of the deceased on receipt of declaration from the concerned office regarding the death of the member.

    • An maximum amount of Rs.7,00,000/- will be granted as Death Relief for the family of the deceased in terms of established norms of the Society.
